My camera wishlist.....looks like I'll need to stop spending and start building up some savings!

I'm overwhelmed by the sheer volume of gorgeous photography out there on the majority of blogs and have been dreaming of upgrading my camera to one that will allow me to get that classic, bokeh-style blogger shot.  My current camera in the words of an expert at my photography course "wants to keep everything in focus" and simply doesn't cut it.

So which would you recommend?  These are the two I've got my eye on; everyone's favourite Canon EOS 600D, or the slightly cheaper Nikon D3100.  I'm leaning towards the Nikon, as it seems silly to buy the more expensive camera when I have very little idea how to use it.

Canon or Nikon?  Or is there another model you could recommend?

  1. I have just bought a panasonic lumix dmc-fz48 which is a bridge camera. It hasnt arrived yet but i have had a play with my friends and it seems pretty good as a cheaper option :) x

    1. My current camera is a bridge one, and it was good to start with but I think it's time to upgrade. The main problem is that although you can put it into manual, the aperture won't go low enough for what I want x

  2. I've got the Nikon D5100 and love it! When I was looking there wasn't really much to choose between Nikon and Canon though I know everyone has their personal preferences. I bought Nikon so I can pinch my Dad's lenses, but I've got a feeling that Canons you can get adaptors for Lomography lenses which could've been handy for me. Anyway, I've found my Nikon great, intuitive and easy to use!xxx

  3. What camera are you using at the moment? I recently got the 1100d (the starter dslr) and love it, I'm already saving for my next lens!

    1. Fujifilm S1600 (I think?!) It's a bridge camera but it just doesn't give me the shots I want. I didn't want to go and splash out on a dslr when I first started blogging, but now I think it's time to move on! x

  4. More expensive one with metal in the camerabody? More stable, but then it is the eye

  6. really like the canon 600d's flip screen for self portraits etc - I still have SO much to learn about it though! I went from a bridge camera too but don't think I can go back x

  7. I have the D3100 and to be honest wish I didn't go for this option.
It is a lovely camera and take beautiful pictures, it's also easy to use and helpful to learn on.
But for me, I don't like it because it doesn't have a remote sensor meaning I can't take in focus pictures of my outfits etc myself. Another thing I don't like is how the screen doesn't flip out - it makes for very tricky video filming but it would totally depend on what you want to get out of a camera. Hope I helped :)

Lots of love from New Zealand,
