(Neatly) in my wardrobe

11.2.13

My side of the wardrobe was really beginning to depress me.  The "folded" (and I use that word loosely) items on the shelves were constantly falling on my head, it was impossible to find what I was looking for and, on occasion, it took a whole lot of manpower to actually get the damn thing open.  So last weekend I decided enough was enough and decided to have a spring clean.  And the finished result?
Much better, I'm sure you'll agree!  I've been left with a sackful of clothes waiting to go to the charity shop and a whole new perspective when I open my wardrobe in the morning.  I've rediscovered old favourites and gotten rid of embarrassing memories.  And I feel so much better for it.

Oh, and remember my storedrobe at the end of the bed?  Well I've had a re-jig of that too, and some of the autumnal colours are now back in the wardrobe whilst more spring-like shades have made it to the rail.
Does anyone else rotate their clothes?  Doing this has really got me in the mood for Spring!

    1. Thank you, ideally I'd like a Carrie Bradshaw-esque walk in wardrobe but I think the cats would have far too much fun swinging from my beloved clothes for that to ever be practical :( x

  3. You should be very proud, my wardrobe is beyond even the realm of nightmares.. I tend to keep my clothes in a pile on the floor these days rather than braving it lol (I feel ashamed admitting that, but nobodies perfect) x

    1. In all honesty, a fair portion of my clothes live on the floor by the side of the bed during the week and then at the weekend I transfer them back into the wardrobe! x

  4. I loooove the feeling where there are things waiting to go to charity and everything is neatly organised, folded and stored away.

I also want all of your shoes.

    1. It's just one less stress to worry about in the morning isn't it? Finding even a plain black tee was causing me too much trouble! x

  8. That looks so nice and neat, doesn't it feel awesome having a clear out and a sort? I've been routinely getting rid of stuff via charity shop bags and it's so nice having room in my wardrobe again! xo

    1. I bet you've got loads to ship off to charity! For a while whilst I was losing weight my I pretty much stocked my charity shop! Every time I drove past there was another item of my clothing on display in the window! x

  9. I wish I had a bigger wardrobe to do a post like this, I love having a nosy at the way people store their clothes. My wardrobe always looks like your non-tidy first photos haha. I do rotate my clothes but between summer/winter. The unused stuff gets bagged up and put in the loft since my wardrobe is so small. When I get down my summer stuff I'll try it on to see if anything is too big or small and I'll clear that out to make space for some seasonal shopping!

    1. I always intend to use those vacuum packs and hide unworn stuff under the bed each season, but I never actually get round to it! x

  10. Haha I regularly go through my clothes, but every "season" I try to do a purge of things that don't fit etc. And my closet looked the same until I finally cleaned it up.

I love the rail that you have. I'm so tempted to find one, I love the look!

    1. I'm really bad....I never chuck out stuff that doesn't fit! This time I tried to be really critical of things that were lurking; anything that I haven't worn for the last couple of years got chucked, except for a few sentimental pieces! x

    1. This one was hanging about in Mum's garage. Our actual wardrobe is in the spare room and the space at the end of our bed was just wasted so I figured I'd bring the rail in there and make it a bit more shop-like (aka homey!). I love it, and I love seeing how other people use theirs x

  13. Love this! At my parents house I have five wardrobes for each ideal; dresses, tops/jumpers, trousers, bags and (my favourite) shoes. When I moved into my own apartment, I barely had enough room for the shoes let alone anything else!

Gorgeous blog, glad I stumbled upon it!
