New things: GetReading.co.uk's fashion blogger

3.5.13

A while ago, a good friend of mine who's forever encouraging me to consider bigger and better things, tweeted me a link to a shout out looking for fashion bloggers in the Reading area.  Strictly speaking I'm not a proper fashion blogger.  Nor am I in the Reading area, although I do frequent it often.  But I sent out a response nonetheless and to be honest, forgot all about it.

That is, until a couple of weeks ago when I got a very exciting email.  It was Caroline asking if I'd like to get involved in an exciting project with GetReading, the website for Reading's local newspaper - The Reading Post.  All last week I was blogging in the run up to a catwalk show in Reading town, which involved me styling up some outfits in New Look, trying on a wedding dress and checking out the accessories in TK Maxx.  You can see some of the photos above, as well as the big surprise of me actually making it into print!

And the even better news is that there's the possibility of this becoming a monthly thing with GetReading.  I always wanted to write, but gave up on that in favour of law when I was about 15.  Blogging has been a little creative outlet, and it's so exciting to now get the opportunity to do that on a larger scale and with the backing of The Post.

So it's an exciting time for Scaredtoast.  The cat's out of the bag; my family and friends have read my blog and been so supportive, you've all now seen my face, people from work have seen me in the paper and wondered why I'm calling myself Tabitha and also now have access to my blog (hi Julie and Sally!)  It's a funny feeling, but in some ways it's also a relief to be honest about some of the opportunities I get (the "I won a competition" line was wearing thin) and having people I know read my blog and say it sounds just like me is the best feeling ever.
