Styling routine: textured hair

I'm forever on the quest for Olsen twin hair, and while my mission is not yet complete, these products are doing the job for me at the moment.

Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Perfectly Un-Done Spray Wax is a firm favourite, and I swiftly stocked up on these when they were on offer a while back, only to learn that they're on offer in Boots pretty much all the time.  Ah well.  This stuff "gives choppy, unstructured, next day hair with style and definition".  It can be sprayed straight on the hair or into your hands and then scrunched through.  It's great for adding a bit of wave to the ends of my hair and I find that used either way it doesn't leave my hair crispy.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray.  It's got pretty much rave reviews all round, so perhaps I was expecting a bit too much.  I anticipated using this and getting that California-surfer girl look in a jiffy.  I was clearly wrong, and for the price I have to say I really don't think it's worth it.  After reading Lily's post though, I've been experimenting spritzing this into my hands and then working it into the ends of my hair.  This works far better and since doing this I haven't been ending up with wet clumps of hair.  Hurrah!

The L'Oreal Play Ball Beach Fizz is my new holy grail product.  It's another salt spray, but this doesn't dry my hair out at all.  In the past, whenever I've used a salt spray I've had to wash my hair that night otherwise I won't be able to get a brush through it the next day and it'll just be a tangled, sticky mess.  This gives "sexy hair with a matt finish" which is virtually undetectable.  Sea salt-sprayed hair which I can still run my fingers through?  Yes please!

And finally, Mark Hill Get Gorgeous! Flirty Fix! Texturising Polish (how many exclamation marks?!) is good for just tweaking the ends of hair and giving them a little more definition.  This stuff is the cheapest of the bunch and is a vibrant pink jelly-like consistency.  Like the Surf Spray, less is more with this.  Unless sticky, wet-look hair is your thing!

So there we have it...the products I've been reaching for to give my hair a little more 'oomph' and help it to look more lived in.  What products do you swear by for texture?

    1. It's up to you, I just wish there'd been a few more negative reviews when I decided to buy....everybody else seems to love it. Perhaps I'm the odd one?! Still, it's quite expensive just to try. Maybe pick up the mini version to see if you like it? x

  6. This is the sort of hair i strive for but always end up with a sticky, straggly mess! Definitely going to try the loreal play ball as it looks a bit different and is worth a go. I have countless salt sprays that all just do the same lack-lustre finish, so hopefully one of this will work for me!
