The 7 Minute Face

8.5.13

I'll be honest - 7 minutes is an estimation.  I didn't think to get my timer out but I do know that two songs played on my iPhone whilst I put my make up on this morning, which would make it roughly 7 minutes right?  Since dying my hair darker I'd been putting on more and more eye make up (which was making me later and later for work), so for the last week or so I've stripped it right back to basics and this is what I've been going with.

I use my fingers with Clarins Instant Smooth Self-Tanning Primer, which gives a lovely tanned, marzipan-scented start to my make up (I happen to like the "fake tan smell") and then I apply Revlon's Nearly Naked Foundation to give a relatively sheer base, using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.  I blend in Origin's Quick, Hide! Concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes, and next use a big powder brush to sweep M&S Limited Collection Bronzing Powder in a 3-shape across my temples/forehead, cheeks and jawline.  This stuff's great; only £5 for a 7g tub which is seriously pigmented and, in my opinion, better than Benefit's Hoola.

Onto the eyes, I pat on MAC's Constructivist Paint Pot and then blend into my crease using a fluffy eyeshadow brush.  I also run a little of that along my lower lashline and line my waterline with Rimmel's Nude Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner.  I leave that to set a little, and do my eyebrows using my HD Brows Palette.  Then I curl my eyelashes and then apply two coats of my favourite mascara, Max Factor's Eye Brightening Mascara and finish by patting on a little more of the paint pot to make the colour slightly more intense.

And because I can never get enough bronzer, I apply The Body Shop's Baked To Last Bronzer onto my cheeks.  Another lovely bronzer, this has a slight rose gold shimmer to it that I love.  And to finish, a little MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl.

I'm loving simple, quick make up looks for summer and it means I have a little more time to faff about in the morning taking instagram photos and choosing which bag to use.  Have you simplified your make up for the warmer weather?

  1. Ooh you may have just helped me find some new make up... I went to the clinique counter the other day and the lady put all sorts of things on me like bronzer and other bits I've never really bothered with (I'm a rubbish excuse for a girl/blogger!)... I just needed to find some good alternatives that don't have the same price tag!

  2. I tend to use less products in the summer too. It just makes everything a lot easier!
