Changes? A mid-year review

Image found via

I read a tweet the other day that said we're less than 19 weeks away from Christmas.  19 weeks.  So with the end of the year sneaking up on us, now seems a good time to take a look back at the resolutions I made back in January and see whether I've succeeded while there's still time left to make a change!

Start spending less money
In all honesty, no.  Big fat fail on this front.  I have managed to whittle down the amount I spend on beauty products though, now for the fashion!  Totally do-able in 6 months.

Keep a diary for the year
In terms of organising myself, I managed this for a couple of weeks.  I like to think that my blog is a little online diary, so maybe we could say I've managed this?  I'm clutching at straws (as I so often do...), but have just received a new diary which I'm excited to try and keep up!

Cook a new meal once a month
Errrrm, no.

Use up all the moisturisers and scrubs under the bed before buying any more
This lasted until February.  When I got scared that the 3 for 2 deal on Soap & Glory was going to end and that I'd never be able to get such a good deal again.  What a fool I was.  I'm pretty sure S&G has been on offer in Boots continuously since the end of May.  And when I broke the rule in February it opened the floodgates for repeated purchases.  I did manage to palm off some of the under-bed stash on Ed though, so I don't feel too guilty.

Comment, via blogger or twitter, when I've enjoyed a blog post
I kept this up for a fair while, but have slipped recently.  As of today I'm back on track, and I do think I've invested more time in talking to people on twitter this year.

Lose 12lbs
The trouble here is that I can't remember the weight I started at?  I do know that since March/April I've lost half a stone, so maybe there's only 5lbs to go?  I know that there's 7lb until my lowest weight, so let's aim for that!

Stop taking on other people's problems
I did really well with this up until about June/July.  I'm aware I've slipped though and am making steps to calm down the anxiety/stress I feel so hopefully I can sort myself out again!

Did you make any New Year's Resolutions?  How are you doing with them?

  1. Wow, I'm impressed you even remember your new year's resolutions - I forgot mine by the end of January! But a very honest post :) I'm the same when I see good offers in Boots, I'm scared it'll be my last chance! x

  2. Hi Tabitha! I also did a new year's resolutions post (
2,3,6 and 8 i seem to be doing ok with. I'm only saving half of what i said i would (4). 1 is a bit of a constant struggle (by the way, well done on your weight loss!) 19 weeks until Christmas?!
I think your blog counts as a diary : ) It seems like you're doing really well with the majority of your resolutions!!! Well done : ) we can't be perfect at everything xx

  3. Great idea! I might do this next year. I think displaying my resolutions online would make me want to complete them more, because I would have talked about them publicly. Either that or I'd just feel SUPER guilty for not completing them haha. Either way, keep it up! You could always start again from now :)

  4. I didn't make any resolutions at the beginning of the year as I find them so hard to keep (and I can also never think of any!) I really like your idea of cooking a new meal every month though! I was going to say that some of your seen like easy ones to keep but then again from this post maybe not?? Lol!! Oh well there's still just under half a year left you can always just start again right! September is always like a 2nd new year with everyone going back to work and school after the holidays

  5. Great idea to have a mid-year review. I have done well with using up products but haven't kept my spending under control as much as I would have liked to... I used to be really good at keeping a diary but since getting an iPhone I've not been in the habit of writing it every evening, I really must though as its so nice to have something "real" to look back in down the line. x
