Creme de la Mer The Refining Facial

I heard about this facial a while ago, and perhaps you have too.  It's the one containing pure diamond powder.  Pure diamond powder??  So when I was offered the chance to give the Crème de la Mer Refining Facial a go, my inner rich bitch jumped at the chance.

The pamphlet enclosed in the box says you'll probably only need to use this once a week.  I'm pretty low maintenance (lazy) with my skincare, so once a week is pretty much perfect for me.

So what about the product itself?  It smells.  I was looking for an adjective to combine that statement with the scent it actually has, but I couldn't think of one.  It's not overwhelming, although it is very noticeable.  Just put it this way...it smells strong enough to come through the packaging (which is a fairly sturdy box) but the smell itself is a nice, quite subtle, minty one.

You apply this in circular motions to a damp face before rinsing off.  It's a little like smearing toothpaste on your face, this is a pale minty colour a lot like the lid of the tube, but a little goes a long way.  A pea-sized amount covered my face, so I'm estimating that this tube will last a long while.

Immediately after use, my skin feels smoother and softer and (I may be imagining here)....clearer?  The tone looks more even, and redness seems reduced.  Next day, and the nasty spot that was brewing on/taking over my chin has calmed down a lot.

As with all new skincare products, it'll take a fair few uses before I can really report on the benefits of this.  I am impressed with it so far, but at £65 it's a definite luxury product.  It'd be a nice one to give as an extravagant gift, or to treat yourself if you've got a bit of cash lying spare.  Let's be honest though, with my spending habits I never have cash lying spare, so it looks doubtful that this will be on my repurchase list.
