The week: 26.8.13

1.9.13

So this week was the last full week of my summer holidays...did I make it a good one?

Bank Holiday Monday was a busy day.  Ed's invested in a new fish tank, so we spent our time getting that monster back from the shop and then going back and forth to fill it all with water.  Not quite the bank holiday I was expecting!

On Tuesday I headed into town for a Las Iguanas lunch.  Have I mentioned before how much I love that place??  We stopped off at Primark too, where I stocked up on back up pairs of my new favourite pumps and bought some new skater dresses.

On Wednesday I made the mistake of checking my bank balance.  It was scary but I figure I have done a lot and shopped a lot this holiday so at least I can see where my money went.

Thursday we had a lovely family day out in Brighton.  It was a little eventful getting there; we panicked and left the motorway because it said there were long delays from J4-2.  As it turns out, we would have left at J7 and wouldn't have been affected....but at least I can say I've now been to Newdigate!  We had lunch on the beachfront in Harvester, took Ella to see the fish in the aquarium, ate crepes and donuts on the pier and collected stones on the beach whilst Mum and Ella got soaked by a wave.  Mum got a little confused when my sister shouted "big wave!", bless her!

Friday was payday, so I celebrated by kick-starting my one item a week regime through September.  I ordered the coat that I featured in my wishlist, thinking the sooner I ordered it, the more likely I was to still be off work and be at home for it when it gets delivered.   Not so sure now though....it still hasn't been dispatched!  And speaking of spending, I uploaded my summer haul video.  Turns out I've bought a lot and it's quite a long one!

On Saturday we went shopping for a new fish (yellow eyed tang, if anyone's interested) and then I had a girlie night out with some friends.  We haven't all been out properly together in years; the last time was January and I was driving, so it was great fun to have a night out where I could drink.  We're such grandmas though....we lasted 3 hours and left feeling a touch too old.  Nothing that a portion of cheesy chips on the way home couldn't fix though!

And finally, today as I write this it is 12:40 and I'm still in my pyjamas.  I've managed to avoid a hangover but I'm seriously lacking motivation.  I'll get moving soon though, I need to take my laptop back to Argos to get it fixed.  Has anyone had any experience of this?  A couple of the keys won't work, so I'm thinking they'll take it away to look at it.  Just hope it doesn't take them too long!

    1. Ahh thank you! They're from Primark, a couple of months ago, but I know they still have lots of similar styles just with different patterns x

  2. Love this little summary. I am liking your idea of one item a week as a treat! Although Im currently eyeing up a few things & as I got paid a week earlier than everyone else it seems im already struggling with how much 'me' money i have left till the end of September! DAMN SAVING FOR A HOUSE!! At least I've put £300 away for it though right?!

  3. I love the photo of you and Dudley! And I love the idea of recapping each week - some weeks I think I've done "nothing" but then I look back and realise that that isn't true! x

    1. Hehe thanks, it was nice to get over the park and take some pics....I'll have to make more of an effort with it in future! And yes, I figure at the end of the year (or whenever) I'll be able to have a look back and have more of a "proper" diary to reminisce alongside the rest of my blog :) x
