Outfit: Leather skirt

Top: Zara // Skirt: French Connection // Necklace & Boots: H&M
I don't tend to shop in French Connection, so when I was offered the chance to pick something to try out from their website I was excited to see what they had to offer.  From my online dalliance, I can say that French Connection have much more of a classic look to their clothing than the shops I usually frequent.  So seeing as I was trying out somewhere new, I decided to push the boundaries and step outside my comfort zone to try I style that I don't normally go for.

The pencil skirt is not my friend.  We usually steer well clear of each other, but I love the way they look and thankfully the pockets on the Riot skirt hide my tummy and make it really flattering.  The leather-effect is so on trend, and the length is modest.  That's probably because I'm really short though; on the website it looked much shorter.  I think this will be a really versatile addition to my wardrobe and I'm already envisioning it with chunky knitwear for winter.

In other news, today marks the start of half term.  Our fence blew down in "The Storm" this morning, I ventured out and did a bit of Christmas shopping and am part way through baking cookies when the oven decided to stop working.  So I figured I'd do the same and turn to blogging instead.

Did the weather affect you today?
