Big buys for 2014

I touched upon this in a post this other week, and this year I want to be smarter with my money.  It's unrealistic for me to hope to cut out shopping completely, but I do want to try and be a bit smarter with my spending.

Instead of spending a little bit in Primark on a regular basis, I'm going to be saving my pennies up and buying bigger purchases every couple of months or so.  I'm hoping to make one of these at the beginning of February, and so far the promise of a beautiful Baia bag has definitely helped me to reign in my spending habits.  Oh, and having no money during January has had an impact too!  EDIT: I may have taken advantage of an extra 20% off and ordered the bag at the weekend!

Next on my list is a new camera lens.  I don't know if I've mentioned it on here before, but I have a Nikon D3100 with the kit lens and a 50mm.  I love the effect the 50mm has, but it doesn't auto focus.  A little reading online though, and I've found that the 35mm does.  A camera lens can be a bit of an investment, but by buying less crap I should feel less guilty splashing out!

I've mentioned it time and time again, but watches really float my boat and I think that this year should be the year that I buy a new one.  I hate to be a cliche, but Michael Kors are a long-standing favourite, and this rose gold one from J.R. Dunn is an absolute beaut.

And finally, a passport!  I'm hoping to actually be a grown up and sort out a holiday at some point but first I'll need a passport.  It's not a huge expense, but it does add up when needing to fork out for one before even considering the cost of a holiday.

Do you think I can stick to it?!  Any money saving tips left down below would be wonderful, too!
