NeoStrata Bio-Hydrating Cream

20.1.14

Winter can be a real pain in the bum when it comes to skincare.  My skin has become a dry mess thanks to the weather outside and central heating indoors, so when I was contacted and offered the chance to be recommended a product from The Cosmetic Practice I figured it might just introduce me to a new holy grail item.

After hearing my skin type, they recommended the NeoStrata Bio-Hydrating Cream.  The packaging doesn't rock my world, but I guess it's what's inside that counts.

So what is inside?  Reading the product details is pretty impressive.... it has a "highly emollient, high strength formulation" which is "designed to reduce the visible signs of aging and provide long-lasting moisturisation" and is perfect for people "who are unable to tolerate glycolic acid but desire the benefits of high-strength AHAs."

Despite being fragrance free, I thought this had an almost plastic-like scent to it which reminded me of something from my childhood.  It's very thick, which I liked, and sinks in quickly.  It didn't leave my skin tacky, just moisturised, and was almost silicone-y to apply.

Due to how thick this moisturiser is, I only used it at nighttime and sadly I don't think it lived up to its promises.  At any other point I think I would have been happy with this (it's not a bad product!), but I switched from another moisturiser that I've been trialling and saw instant results with, so it was all too evident that this wasn't really having an effect on my skin.  For £27 a tube, I just expected a little more 'wow' from this.

Have any of you tried the NeoStrata range?  Is there anything else they do worth giving a go?
