Try the Trend: fresh-faced & luminous

I'm led to believe that a dewy, fuss-free base is going to be big news this year. I know, I hear you....when is it not?  Well with the focus on that for the moment, I better actually try and master it!

TRY IT:
1.  The focus is on the skin, so moisturise!
2.  According to the mags, foundation should be used as a concealer, so I dotted Diorskin Nude BB Cream across any redness or blemishes and blended with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to keep things light.
3.  Groomed brows are a feature, so go in with your sculptor of choice.  I went for my HD Brows Kit followed by Maybelline Brow Drama to keep everything in place.
4.  *The* place to wear blush for this look is, apparently, just under the cheekbones.  I opted for cream products, and used Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Stonewashed Pink followed by St Tropez Skin Illuminator in Rose to highlight across my cheekbones, temples, nose and cupid's bow.
5.  Eyes are fairly natural; Benefit's Hoola Bronzer gave me a warm brown base, followed by a spot of so-called "invisible liner" (an uber thin line of black liquid liner dotted amongst the lashes) to create the illusion of fullness.  Curl your lashes, add mascara, and you're done!
6.  To finish, go for a fairly pared down lip.  I originally went for a peachy nude but didn't like the effect, so dabbed on MUA Shade 10 for a bit more colour instead.

THE VERDICT:
I like the glowing skin and enjoyed not plastering my face in foundation and still getting a similar effect, but I wonder if I look a bit too eye-y?  I like a bit more definition around my peepers (aka a way to distract from the dark circles!), and this look isn't really cutting it.  And boy, did it take a long time to look this natural!  If only I could cut down how long I spent and combine an eye look that I'm happy with, we could be on to a winner!

  4. I really love this look on you :) I don't think it would work to me as my skins quite oily so a dewy look might make my skin look really greasy? I'm not sure. I will give it a try though :) I am a new follower on bloglovin. xx

  5. You look so beautiful, I'm a huge fan of simple make up, even if it does take a deceptively long time to achieve such a natural look!

  7. I disagree; this look looks lovely on you! I'm always attempting a dewy base, but sometimes my face ends up looking too shiny a la Louise Thompson. Great. Although I have been using an illuminating moisturiser by MAC which has been working quite well :)

  10. You look absolutely glowing and lovely! I'm really interested in recreating the fresh faced look. Who needs being bogged down by foundation all the time right?
