Jeans have been banished in this incredible heat we're
suffering enjoying lately. It's been loose trousers all the way for me; my Topshop birthday treat, a naughty Dorothy Perkins purchase (in the middle) and my rediscovered Primark elephant trousers (second left). I didn't really appreciate them until this year, and that's for many reasons. (a) now that they're no longer in the shops, everyone keeps asking where I got them; (b) they look like pyjamas and that's never a bad thing; and (c) the print is subtle, making them really versatile.
The fabric of my black H&M (second from right) top is nice and fitted, and I love the scoop detail on the back. Being a bit bosom-y means low cut tops can be far too revealing, so it's nice to show off some skin on my back instead.
Speaking of classic tops, I went a bit gung-ho in the All Saints sale and bought quite a few. My favourite is this greige tee in the middle; it's a silk mix, so so soft, and hangs just beautifully. Only problem is that it's hand-wash only, and I'm a little afraid to wear it in case I get stains down it!
Finally, that bloggers' favourite from last year, - on the left, the elephant smock dress. Or as I've christened it, my "hot dress" - reserved in my wardrobe for those sweltering days when you can't bear to wear anything remotely restrictive. It's modest enough for work, with fabric heavy enough that you don't need to worry about any embarrassing gust of wind-type moments. It's a bit of a love/hate dress; in my experience men hate it, but I get so many compliments from women. In between comments about maternity wear that is, but who's laughing when I'm the one staying nice and cool?!
